What Makes Community Animal Care So Special...

Veterinary Urgent Care, Right When You Need It

When something unexpected comes up, you can count on us to be here. Our Poughkeepsie animal hospital offers dedicated urgent care hours throughout the week so you can seek immediate care when your pet needs timely attention. And, if your pet needs help outside these time slots, we will do our absolute best to ensure they get the care they need, when they need it.

We welcome both new and existing clients during these hours, and we’re equipped to assess, diagnose, and treat a wide range of health concerns, without the wait of an emergency hospital. For after-hours needs, we partner with VetTriage to connect you with licensed veterinary professionals for guidance and peace of mind.

Meet Our Community

Community Animal Care was founded over 60 years ago by Dr. Kessinger and Dr. Sanford. Today, the tradition continues under the leadership of Dr. Melissa Pelesz, whose commitment to quality medicine and personalized care has helped shape the practice into what it is today.

We’re a team of compassionate professionals who work closely together to create a warm, welcoming environment for every pet and their person. We take the time to get to know you and your four-legged friend, because we believe that meaningful care comes from meaningful connection.
